Vehicle/Vessel Database

Some of the search parameters available are:

• make of vehicle,
• model type (not by model name) for example; 2D, 4D, SW, PK, UT, etc.,
• model year,
• county of residence

• make of boat/vessel,
• model year,
• county of residence,
• fuel type,
• propulsion,
• length,
• hull material.

Database Search Outputs Available

The data can be provided in one of the following formats:

1. CD: Brief instructions and the file layout are provided on the CD.The data can be converted to most PC applications. The Department does not provide technical assistance on your specific application.
2. Printout: 8 ½" X 11", three hole punched, landscape format paper.
3. Mainframe tape that the requester provides: The tape can only be 3490 or 3490E cartridge formats. All tapes are generated in EBCDIC language. Layouts of the tape formats are available upon request.
4. FTP: Requestor must provide STATIC Numerical IP Address, User Login and User Password.

How to Request a Search

We require a letter of request stating exactly what parameters you wish to use. If sending a deposit at the time of request, personal checks, company checks or money orders are acceptable. Do NOT send cash. No credit cards are allowed.

The cost of the information is $0.01 per vehicle, boat/vessel. The deposit is applied to the total cost of the run. If the cost? of the run is less than the deposit, the information will be shipped to you and a refund of any unused money will be mailed back separately. If the cost of the run is more than the deposit, you will be notified by phone of the balance due.

Payment in full is required prior to the release of the information. A $4.50 shipping and handling fee is added to the balance due. For shipping by overnight service, you must supply a completed airbill that charges the cost of the shipping back to your account. All checks are to be made payable to the Dept. of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. If the balance due is not paid within 30 days of notification, the deposit and the tape supplied will be forfeited to the Department. Normally, it takes one to two weeks to generate a list.

Microfiche Name File

Division of Motor Vehicles current microfiche name file is available for purchase. This file only provides name, city of residence, date of birth and title number(s) for motor vehicles and mobile homes titled in The State of Florida. It does not provide an address, or any information about the vehicle. A microfiche reader must be used to read the name file.

This name file is compiled every 4 to 6 months. If a title has been transferred and reissued, the previous owner's name is removed and the current owner's name is listed.

The cost is $0.20, per card and the total cost will depend on the number of cards in the microfiche set. There is also a $4.50, shipping/handling feed.

If any of the above Dealer lists are to be printed on labels, the requester must supply the labels with a letter of request and the required payment. The label size is: 4" x 1 7/16", pressure sensitive, one up (column of one). We can also write the information on a CD or mainframe tape. PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the above costs, there is also a $1.00 charge for the CD that is used to write the information on and a $4.50 shipping charge.
